Dishes to Try at Boon Tong Kee

A big, big thank you to Jenny for setting up the SoMoms to a lunch at Boon Tong Kee! I enjoyed all the dishes and of course, the mommy bonding (which I need more of!)

Their stand-alone branch in Tomas Morato was the venue for our yummy afternoon. Boon Tong Kee also has branches in Powerplant Mall, Mall of Asia and the recently opened, U.P. Town Center. I like the modern classic vibe of the Tomas Morato branch. It feels cozy and the interior were well-thought off. It even gets full on lunch hour as there are surrounding bussinesses. And if you’re lucky, you might get to see some artistas as it is near ABSCBN and GMA. We saw Mike Enriquez while we were there!

On to the food! I absolutely love their Cereal Prawns! I’ve tried their competitor’s but Boon Tong Kee’s version is more delicious. Their prawns are really big and the cereal has the right mix of sweet and spicy. It really goes well with the Chicken Rice.

For appetizer, I highly suggest the Fried Beancurd with Wasabi-Mayo. The beancurd will melt in your mouth and lets your pallete get ready for the other exciting dishes ahead. You should also order the Prawn Toast. They do not skimp on prawns at Boon Tong Kee. With every bite, you are sure to have the softness of the prawns and the crunchiness of the toast, best of both worlds! They also have mouthwatering soups to warm your tummy!

Of course, being in a Singaporean restaurant, a meal would not be complete without their Hainanese Chicken! Chef Jesse told us that the Singaporean chefs taught them how to properly clean the poultry. And that is very evident because you’ll feel and taste the cleanliness of the chicken! I also like how the Chefs and the proprietors of Boon Tong Kee are all hands-on with the restaurant! They see to it that the food served in all of their branches are of the same quality.

So good with hoisin sauce and grated ginger!!! All sauces at Boon Tong Kee is sourced abroad just to have that same taste as with all Boon Tong Kees in the world!

If you’re a pork kind of person, then you must try the Char Siu Pork. It is similar to our pork asado, with a generous portion of fat! The Coffee-rubbed Spareribs is also a new take on old flavors which goes very well together.

Perfect for the coffee-holics!

There should always be room for desserts! Boon Tong Kee has yummy innovations to satisfy our sweet tooth. Here’s what I loved:

Strawberry Taho
Green Tea Creme Brulee
Sago Gula Melaka
