I hope that my blog will be an avenue for other moms to discover mom-made products. Moms support moms, yeah!

There are times when careers take a backseat when one become a mom. But what if, that wasn’t really for you? You may have wanted to do that job but it wasn’t your passion? And through motherhood, that passion was restarted and is now a thriving business.

Such is the case of Atty. Marie Gonzales-Molina of The Sucrerie. From being a lawyer and an aspiring public official, she is now a cake artist making delectable sweet treats that look super amazing and tastes really, really good.

She made Z’s awesome Solar System cake when he turned 4.

Being a breastfeeding mama herself, she made the daintiest lactation cookies I’ve ever seen.

And just recently, I celebrated turning a year older with her lovely chocolate ganache cake with chocolate-filled strawberries.

Marie started baking because she had Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy but still wanted to have her cake, and eat it too! I had GD before and I know how hard it was to resist sugar. Why didn’t I think of baking, hahaha! I really admire her passion in cake artistry as she still attends classes to further her learning. That’s along with taking care of 3 kids! She’s a momspiration and I always look forward to her sharing of her kids’ cute but very insightful conversations.

I’ve been following Em’s MplusKequalsA Instagram account way before I had a baby girl. And when I found out I was indeed having one, this was one of the first online stores I ordered from!

Just a few hours old!
Just a few hours old!

Em initially made headbands for her daughter, because her little one had  a not-so-good experience with a commercially-made one. And the rest is history. She enjoyed making clips and headbands that she continued making them and eventually sold them online. No business plan whatsoever, just passion and a lot of creativity!

Now that Y likes to look (in her own words) pretty , she enjoys having clips on her hair. The clips from MplusKequalsA has a rubber foam glued on the clip so it will not tug or hurt the scalp and hair. Moms really think of the simple but important aspect which makes buying from them worth it!

Some mommy-brands come about because two moms thought about putting up a business way before they became moms. Such is the case of Gillian and Kris, the moms behind Whims and Wonder.

Whims and Wonder

I discovered Whims and Wonder when I was browsing Facebook for ideas what to give Z’s classmates as a good-bye gift. Gillian, one-half of the moms behind the brand whom I knew since mIRC days, shared a picture of PJ Masks masks and that happened to be the boys’ favorite cartoon. So, I sent them a message and it was a smooth transaction even if my order was kinda rushed already as I needed them in less than a week. It was a unique and useful gift which didn’t cost much. Too bad, I wasn’t able to take a picture of Z and his classmates wearing them.

Gillian and Kris, the moms behind Whims and Wonder believe in learning through play and in spite of their busy schedules, manages to have quality playtime with their kids. I think this is very important now that our kids’ generation are tech-savvy. Pretend play boosts language and socio-emotional skills as well as confidence and imagination. Sometimes, I use this as a teaching moment, especially now that both kids’ character are developing. I’m really happy with this mom-find as I’m sure I’ll be needing their creativity when the kids need to be in costume!
