MomBrandLove is the newest category on this blog. This is in awe of mompreneurs who lovingly put a lot of effort in their business along with juggling tasks for kids, husband, the home and everything in between! I hope that my blog will be an avenue for other moms to discover mom-made products. Moms support moms, yeah!
I met Mommy MJ in a playgroup where both our kids were enrolled. Even then, I knew she was something else, because aside from being a hands-on mom to Aio, she was also working as a night-shift nurse. I think we made a connection because we were both breastfeeding moms. I love how breastfeeding makes moms closer! She says that even before giving birth, breastfeeding was her only option to nourish her child. And up to now, she’s breastfeeding her second-born.
Registered Nanay is MJ’s fourth baby (the first one being their cat!). This business came about because she had to resign from her post as a nurse because of yaya problems (we’ve all been there!) Baking has been her hobby since she was young and to incorporate it into her breastfeeding advocacy is combining passion and purpose in one. And if you want a guarantee that her lactation treats work, MJ has been awarded as the top breastmilk donor in the hospital she was working for!
My favorites are the Banana Nutella Muffins and Cheese Muffins. They look like the usual pastries but with the power to increase breastmilk, without the bitter aftertaste. It is so good that one time, a helper served it to my FIL’s guests and they finished it! Of course, no harm was done to them as it is safe to eat for everyone!
I like the idea of the Milky Bites – a no-bake lactation treat that you’ll just have to mix for yourself! Perfect for those travelling or as a gift to a new breastfeeding momma! Prices range from P300- P450, which is not that expensive. And given that it’s from the kitchen of a wondermom, you know you’re getting your money’s worth!
I’m a staunch advocate of breastfeeding. Had I not attended a breastfeeding lecture, I wouldn’t know about my body’s capabilities of providing nutrition, comfort and more to my little one. My first-born totally reaped the benefits of extended breastfeeding – he is not as sickly, he eats most foods and loves to cuddle! I’m praying that I have the patience and will to breastfeed my daughter for as long too.
So eversince I became a mom and a breastfeeder, I see to it that I encourage other would-be moms to do the same. Whenever I see a friend announcing their pregnancy on social media, I send them links on breastfeeding lectures and infographics, hoping that they too would breastfeed their little ones. So far, I’ve been successful in helping around 3 or 4 friends, one of which I’ve interviewed on this post.
But I’ve only experienced a little, not so much to be that inspiring. So I’m really happy that a website addresses a lot of breastfeeding concerns of a first-time mom. GoBreastfeed.com is your one-stop breastfeeding website! There is a crash course section which tackles myths, what to expect about breastfeeding and childbirth and how to adjust when the baby arrives. If you can’t attend a breastfeeding lecture, then there’s no excuse not to learn more about the benefits of breastfeeding, since you can just bookmark this site and have it handy! There are also inspiring stories on the site, one of my favorites is how a non-breastfeeder sees a breastfeeding mom.
The website is currently raising funds to produce more materials on breastfeeding education. Kate Delos Reyes, the creator of gobreastfeed.com sees breastfeeding as beneficial not just to children but to the whole community. Breastfeeding has been one of the best decisions my husband and made as parents. I hope more and more babies get the benefits of breastmilk and the bonding it produces!
