Food-filled Summer Activities

I can’t believe that summer time is over and both kids will be starting school in just a few days! Here I am reminiscing about our food-filled summer activities that I hope will be etched in my kids’ memory banks.

No-Fuss Picnic

We wanted to have a leisurely breakfast, so we a got a mat, any food we fancied and sat down for almost 2 hours! No planning involved. Both Z and Y enjoyed and got to try different kinds of food.

#BakeOutoftheBox with Flour Plan

Like me, Z has a sweet tooth and a weakness for Crinkles (See my #CrinklesChronicles on Instagram). I chanced upon Flour Plan online and I thought it would be a great activity for us. Flour Plan makes baking easy for us moms because all the materials you need are included in the box (except for perishable items like egg and milk). The ingredients are pre-measured so you’ll just have to follow the cooking procedure. The steps were easy to follow, even non-bakers can make it! We made A LOT of crinkles to share with every one in the house!

DIY Pizza

I think kids are more open to trying out new food items when they’ve played with it. Such was the case when we made our own pizzas! Z and Y devoured the mushrooms, ham, onions, and cheese – even before the pizza got cooked!

Colored Bread

Here are the ingredients you need to make colored bread:

  • White Bread
  • Milk
  • Food Color
  • Sugar

Follow these steps:

  1. Divide the milk into different containers, depending on the colors you want to make.
  2. We experimented with the number of drops per food color and made cute combinations.
  3. You may use a brush or dropper to put the milk into the bread. Just make sure it won’t get soggy.
  4. Sprinkle a little bit of sugar to taste before toasting it.
  5. Serve with a little butter on the side and enjoy!

Food proves to be a common interest in my kids and I like that! I look forward to more foodventures with Z and Y 🙂

What were your memorable activities this summer?!

MomBrandLove: Whims and Wonder

MomBrandLove is the newest category on this blog. This is in awe of mompreneurs who lovingly put a lot of effort in their business along with juggling tasks for kids, husband, the home and everything in between! I hope that my blog will be an avenue for other moms to discover mom-made products. Moms support moms, yeah!

Some mommy-brands come about because two moms thought about putting up a business way before they became moms. Such is the case of Gillian and Kris, the moms behind Whims and Wonder.

Whims and Wonder

I discovered Whims and Wonder when I was browsing Facebook for ideas what to give Z’s classmates as a good-bye gift. Gillian, one-half of the moms behind the brand whom I knew since mIRC days, shared a picture of PJ Masks masks and that happened to be the boys’ favorite cartoon. So, I sent them a message and it was a smooth transaction even if my order was kinda rushed already as I needed them in less than a week. It was a unique and useful gift which didn’t cost much. Too bad, I wasn’t able to take a picture of Z and his classmates wearing them.

Gillian and Kris, the moms behind Whims and Wonder believe in learning through play and in spite of their busy schedules, manages to have quality playtime with their kids. I think this is very important now that our kids’ generation are tech-savvy. Pretend play boosts language and socio-emotional skills as well as confidence and imagination. Sometimes, I use this as a teaching moment, especially now that both kids’ character are developing. I’m really happy with this mom-find as I’m sure I’ll be needing their creativity when the kids need to be in costume!

At Expo Kid, parents and kids will have a sneak peek of the different summer activities available in the metro! We went last year and discovered an indoor soccer class, availed of discounted tickets in Kidzania and Mind Museum and learned about the newest establishments for kids to widen their interests. There’s no need to call or email or go from one place to the other just to get details, you’ll get the summer schedules, rates, locations and maybe a discount in just one place! Count on Mommy Mundo to make our lives easier!

If I had a yaya and a newborn, I’d definitely attend The Parenting Emporium‘s Infant Care seminar. Extra hands for taking care of a new baby are very much appreciated but parents would be more at ease if their yayas or helpers are knowledgeable about first aid, proper hygiene (for both baby and nanny!) feeding and all the other issues concerning the baby. This will be very helpful to first-time moms as well!

Yaya Seminar on Infant Care | March 4, 2017 | 1 pm to 4 pm | #29 1st Street, New Manila, Q.C. | Fees apply

A healthy lifestyle might be one of the best gifts we can give to our children! And by being good examples, we can show them that being fit and healthy is fun. The Mommy Milkshake Run by Mommy Mundo is the right venue just for that! Don’t worry if you’ve never run before, most families just take the time to be together, away from gadgets and work. There will also be a family fair with booths catering to health wellness that you can go to after the run to take a breather. For information on the fees, singlet sizes and route, just visit their website.
