Food-filled Summer Activities

I can’t believe that summer time is over and both kids will be starting school in just a few days! Here I am reminiscing about our food-filled summer activities that I hope will be etched in my kids’ memory banks.

No-Fuss Picnic

We wanted to have a leisurely breakfast, so we a got a mat, any food we fancied and sat down for almost 2 hours! No planning involved. Both Z and Y enjoyed and got to try different kinds of food.

#BakeOutoftheBox with Flour Plan

Like me, Z has a sweet tooth and a weakness for Crinkles (See my #CrinklesChronicles on Instagram). I chanced upon Flour Plan online and I thought it would be a great activity for us. Flour Plan makes baking easy for us moms because all the materials you need are included in the box (except for perishable items like egg and milk). The ingredients are pre-measured so you’ll just have to follow the cooking procedure. The steps were easy to follow, even non-bakers can make it! We made A LOT of crinkles to share with every one in the house!

DIY Pizza

I think kids are more open to trying out new food items when they’ve played with it. Such was the case when we made our own pizzas! Z and Y devoured the mushrooms, ham, onions, and cheese – even before the pizza got cooked!

Colored Bread

Here are the ingredients you need to make colored bread:

  • White Bread
  • Milk
  • Food Color
  • Sugar

Follow these steps:

  1. Divide the milk into different containers, depending on the colors you want to make.
  2. We experimented with the number of drops per food color and made cute combinations.
  3. You may use a brush or dropper to put the milk into the bread. Just make sure it won’t get soggy.
  4. Sprinkle a little bit of sugar to taste before toasting it.
  5. Serve with a little butter on the side and enjoy!

Food proves to be a common interest in my kids and I like that! I look forward to more foodventures with Z and Y 🙂

What were your memorable activities this summer?!

MomBrandLove: MplusKequalsA

MomBrandLove is the newest category on this blog. This is in awe of mompreneurs who lovingly put a lot of effort in their business along with juggling tasks for kids, husband, the home and everything in between! I hope that my blog will be an avenue for other moms to discover mom-made products. Moms support moms, yeah!

I’ve been following Em’s MplusKequalsA Instagram account way before I had a baby girl. And when I found out I was indeed having one, this was one of the first online stores I ordered from!

Just a few hours old!
Just a few hours old!

Em initially made headbands for her daughter, because her little one had  a not-so-good experience with a commercially-made one. And the rest is history. She enjoyed making clips and headbands that she continued making them and eventually sold them online. No business plan whatsoever, just passion and a lot of creativity!

Now that Y likes to look (in her own words) pretty , she enjoys having clips on her hair. The clips from MplusKequalsA has a rubber foam glued on the clip so it will not tug or hurt the scalp and hair. Moms really think of the simple but important aspect which makes buying from them worth it!

I’m really happy to have creative mommy friends to support! Do check out MplusKequalsA account by clicking their logo on the sidebar. Best part? They’re on SALE and stocks are running out fast!

Cheers to Life! Cheers to Everyday!

I saw this on Facebook and it made me LOL:

I’ve no plans on being a bouncer, so might as well be great in referee-ing, haha! At this point where my kids are ages 5 and 1.8, referee-ing is just in the following situations: when the big brother is active and might hurt the little sister; when the little sister messes up big brother’s toys; and when both of them want to be on Mommy! But overall, Z and Y are very loving and affectionate of each other. And that’s my #cheers moment as of late.

Z takes on his big brother role seriously and will not let anyone “borrow” his sister. I also appreciate it when he’s the one doing the explaining to Y. For example, last Friday we were supposed to play in Kidzoona but it was closed for an event. Y was obviously in distraught when we were walking away and then I heard Z tell her “It’s okay Ysabelly, we’ll play there next time.” And when we went for their check-up and vaccine, Z was the one consoling Y when she cried after she got her shot. He says that Y is his best friend. Haaay, this little boy may be a handful at times but his heart is so big!

Y is at the stage wherein whatever her Kuya holds, she’ll want to have it too. We had to buy them matching shoes because Y will get Z’s rubber shoes! And more often than not, she follows Z so I’ve to tell Z to tell her to clean up or sit down. She adores her Kuya and smothers him with kisses!

Thank you Cheers for making me appreciate such a simple gesture from my kids, which is actually a big thing because they have no choice but to love each other! And for being our partner in cleaning up the mess this siblings make!
